With the help of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, childhood obesity levels will lower. A majority of the calories that children consume comes from school meals. If these meals are healthy and nutritional, this can help children to live healthy lives as they grow older. Parents cannot always control what children eat, and that is where schools have to come in. They need to make sure that children do not eat only candy, soda, and junk food. By taking away the temptations and replacing them with nutritious and delicious meals, they are helping the children immensely. All the effort put into this law will go to waste though if it is all we do to fight obesity. Children need to be taught how to eat healthy on their own. The statute is good start, but hopefully there will be a bigger push for nutrition education in the future.
